West Indies vs India 4th ODI Match Report

The 4th ODI was the game for the West Indies to shine after a shaky start but Simmons and Pollard scored half centuries and proved others wrong the deserve in the West Indies team. The Pollard innings was classy and wasn’t your average Pollard innings with huge amounts of boundaries but showed he had control as well.
India also got a bad start with the debutant falling early but India just failed to build on their starts.
Match Result
West Indies 249 for 8 (Pollard 70, Simmons 67 Praveen 3-37) defeated India 146 (Martin 4-36, Russell 3-16) by 103 runs
Raina had won the toss again and elected to bowl and also announced Ashwin, Ishant and Tiwary would be playing while Martin and Darren Bravo were in for the West Indies. Hyatt didn’t last too long and would be disappointed in his start to international cricket falling to Ishant Sharma. A few overs later Kumar found the huge wicket of Sarwan and at that time India were in a great position. Things from their got quite slow with the odd boundary by Simmons who looked like the only one who looked like scoring runs as both Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels scored a few runs off a lot of balls. Tiwary’s debut got better as he got Simmons out with a direct hit who was batting so well and the game had suddenly flipped right into India’s hands considering Pollards form. Pollard though was proving critics wrong as he was playing a lot more sensibly in this innings with the odd 2 boundaries every few overs, he did his job before he too was dismissed for 70 but got his team back in the game. Baugh was also batting well as he scored 39 runs whilst Russell tried more heroics with his 25 run cameo as the West Indies posted 249.
Tiwary was very nervous looked in his strokes and that reflected on his performance as he only made 2 off 17 as he made a prode at a ball and caught the edge and went straight to Baugh. Parthiv Patel’s start went to waste as Sammy caught and bowled him which was a great wicket. Russell’s short delivery to Badrinanth was perfect and kept climbing and Badrinanth’s struggle ended. Martin was then very smart to pick up the big wicket of Virat Kolhi who has been in good form and all of a sudden West Indies had a huge chance to pick up the win as India were 4/82. Suresh Raina then once again went for the slog sweep but wasn’t successful as Martin grabbed another wicket. Simmons then suprisingly came on to have a bowl and he struck with Yusuf Pathan heading straight back to the pavilion. The only thing that could save India was Rohit Sharma who had done well all series but Martin was ecstatic as he removed him with a terrible shot. The game was easily won by the West Indies to make the series 3-1 with Martin picking up 4 wickets.
